Cookie Cat

Cookie Cat was a university game project, with a player jumping through a generated level while collecting cookies and buying upgrades between encounters.

This was an early Godot project for me, and the level kept generating as the player moved, so the main problem was making the next platform reachable while leaving enough variation for the game to keep moving, with enemies and collectibles placed in the same generated space that the player needed to cross.

Cookies, frogs and their projectiles shared the generated space, and the player could spend collected currency on extra lives or jump upgrades when a shop appeared.

Godot's scene and signal model took some getting used to, as objects needed to stay separate enough to reuse while still passing things like collisions, purchases and player state between them.

The catalogue date follows the first preserved commit on 14 July 2023.

Outcome

A playable coursework platformer with a recorded walkthrough. The generated level, enemy encounters and upgrade shops are part of the preserved game implementation.
