Privacy Policy
Last updated 26 July 2026
This policy explains how I, Hamish Burke, handle information when you visit hamishburke.dev or contact me through the site.
Information collected
The site collects limited information in the following ways:
- Site analytics: page paths, session timing, scroll milestones, and interactions such as outbound, email, CV, and booking-link clicks.
- Local storage: your theme choice and a random identifier used to relate a visit to a completed Cal.com booking. This site does not use analytics cookies.
- Messages and bookings: information you choose to provide when emailing me or booking a call, such as your name, email address, and message.
- Technical data: hosting and analytics providers may process standard request information, such as IP address, browser type, and device type, to deliver and secure their services.
How information is used
I use this information to:
- operate, secure, and improve the site;
- understand which content and contact paths are useful;
- respond to messages and manage bookings; and
- meet legal obligations and prevent misuse.
I do not sell personal information.
Service providers
I use Netlify for hosting and first-party analytics storage, Umami Cloud for aggregate analytics, Sanity for site content, and Cal.com for bookings. If you follow an external link or book a call, that provider’s privacy policy also applies. These providers may process information outside New Zealand.
Retention and security
I keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes described above or to meet legal requirements. I use reasonable safeguards, but no website or transmission method is completely secure.
Your choices and rights
You can block analytics scripts or clear this site’s local storage in your browser. Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you may ask to access or correct personal information I hold about you. You may also raise a concern with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
