# GrooveBox

GrooveBox is a small beat-sketching tool, using the computer keyboard to play samples and record patterns that can be changed while the sequencer runs.

Independent development. Python, Pygame and C++ audio-engine work.

I built the sequencer around playing a pad and keeping that action in a pattern, so the keyboard could serve as the input while a running loop kept the timing visible, with sample playback and pattern state kept separate enough for the same sequencer to use different audio backends.

The code includes quantised recording and pattern switching, with track-length changes, rotation and Euclidean-fill functions sitting alongside the playback state and audio backends.

The repository also has scene and persistence functions beyond the older README checklist, though the proposed physical controller stayed a separate direction from the desktop instrument implemented here.

The catalogue date follows the first preserved commit on 23 November 2025.

## Outcome

A desktop sequencing prototype with sample audio, pattern editing and playback code. The cover diagrams the implemented loop without pretending to be a hardware product photograph.
